The cost of a college education is something on the minds of all families. With that in mind, Southeast Missouri State University has made it a mission to offer students a high-quality education without the high cost.

SEMO’s scholarship program is one way students can cover some tuition costs. For instance, there’s the generous Copper Dome scholarship, which seeks to award more students scholarships. This means that 70% of students are currently eligible as long as they apply by the Dec. 1, 2021, deadline.

The scholarship program is stackable, so students are welcome to use multiple scholarships that they’ve been awarded. The program also is progressive, meaning that it grows in value every year. Because the cost of living increases each year, SEMO believes student scholarships should, too.

Simple and transparent applications make scholarships more accessible

“It’s not just about low costs,� says Director of Admissions Lenell Hahn. “We also believe in making the process simple, transparent and accessible for all students. That’s right, students can be eligible for scholarships based only on their GPA.�

Southeast Missouri State has no application fee.

“What’s most important to me is not that we’re offering lower-cost education,� says Hahn. “It’s that we’re doing it while maintaining the high quality and groundbreaking academics Southeast Missouri State is known for, whether that’s with the state’s first cybersecurity degree, our recognized arts programs, or our solid pre-professional programs like pre-med, pre-law and pre-veterinary.�

Students can earn a degree from an accredited program, with career-ready hands-on learning opportunities, and from faculty who care. “That makes Southeast not just the lower-cost option but a smart investment,� Hahn says.
